Osman Batu

From Türkiye, twelve-year-old Osman Batu, who began learning English at a young age with strong family support, made noticeable progress in confidence and fluency while preparing for COP30. He advanced through a multi-stage selection process—submitting a three-minute video and competing in a national contest in Istanbul, where his speaking skills, grammar, pronunciation, and confidence were evaluated—earning first place and the opportunity to represent Türkiye at the United Nations.

At COP30, Osman spoke about the effects of climate change he had witnessed—from wildfires across Türkiye to disappearing butterflies in his grandmother’s garden—and proposed student-led Climate Labs in schools and “Climate Roofs” featuring solar panels and green spaces. His speech, grounded in personal observations and actionable ideas, also caught the attention of a local reporter, who conducted a short interview in English, showcasing his comfort and fluency in real-life communication. Representing his country on a global stage was a great honor, motivating Osman to continue developing his English and deepening his understanding of global issues.

Wasuthida Ringkleun

From Thailand, twelve-year-old Wasuthida Ringkleun, who began learning with 51Talk in November 2024, stood out among nearly 200 participants nationwide. Inspired by her experience as a school news anchor and guided by a strong growth mindset, she practiced diligently to improve her English skills, sharing news and ideas online and preparing to speak confidently on a global stage.

At COP30, she used the image of a sea turtle trapped in a ghost net to illustrate marine plastic pollution and its long-term impact on ocean ecosystems and human health, emphasizing the need for awareness and action to protect the oceans. Representing Thailand for the first time on an international platform, Wasuthida demonstrated determination, confidence, and a commitment to contributing to a greener future.

Abdulmohsen Alsherih

Motivated by his interest in languages and cultures, improved his English over one year at 51Talk. Nominated through a collaboration with the Ministry of Education, he stood out among more than 700 students, advanced to the top 20 finalists, and ultimately won first place in the school competition. Representing Saudi Arabia at the United Nations, he confidently shared his ideas on environmental and wildlife protection, impressing both peers and adults.

At COP30, Abdulmohsen delivered an urgent message about the silent crisis facing our oceans due to warming, pollution, and overfishing. He highlighted the critically endangered Vaquita dolphin as a warning, and cited Saudi Arabia’s efforts to protect Red Sea coral reefs as a source of global hope. He called for collective action, emphasizing that environmental protection must cross borders.

Khaseeba Omar Al Rumaithi

Khaseeba turned her love for reading and speaking English into a powerful achievement on the global stage. Motivated by both passion and academic dedication, she joined a national selection for a UN speech competition. Standing out among more than 700 submissions, she advanced through a live speech and quiz round to become the winner. With confidence and pride, she represented the UAE at the United Nations, sharing her country’s voice with clarity and purpose.

In her speech, she introduced an innovative solution to climate change: floating solar islands built from recycled materials. These islands would generate clean energy to power desalination systems during the day, while supporting coral reef restoration beneath the surface—combining sustainability and marine protection in one project. Inspired by the UAE’s spirit of turning bold ideas into reality, she believes that when young people and engineers work together, meaningful change is possible, and that even small actions can help build a greener future.

Sheddi Alharthi

Sheddi motivated by a love of reading and strong support from his parents, improved his English over five months at 51Talk. He competed against 1,700 students in the official 51Talk contest, advanced to the top 20, and ultimately won first place with an impressive speech. Representing Saudi Arabia at the United Nations, Sheddi confidently shared his ideas and engaged with peers from around the world.

In his speech, Sheddi spoke about his love for animals and highlighted Saudi Arabia’s successful conservation of the Arabian oryx, once extinct and now restored through dedicated efforts recognized by UNESCO. Inspired by this achievement and the Saudi Green Initiative, he called on the world to work together to protect wildlife and keep the planet alive.

Le Bao Nhi

From Vietnam, eleven-year-old Le Bao Nhi, who previously struggled with pronunciation and speaking confidence, has made remarkable progress in English after diligent daily practice with 51Talk, consistently attending five one-on-one sessions per week.

Standing out among numerous candidates, she won the GreenTalk contest and earned the opportunity to represent Vietnamese children at COP30. At the conference, she spoke about how witnessing plastic pollution on her local beach inspired her to take action, shared her efforts in organizing local clean-ups, and described turning discarded materials into creative projects, emphasizing that even small actions can make a meaningful difference in protecting the environment.
